At Lower Mainland Fast Freight, we believe in honest, transparent pricing. To help our clients manage their shipping budgets, we provide a clear breakdown of our Fuel Surcharge (FSC), which is calculated in strict accordance with the Vince Ready Agreement.
Our surcharge is based on the average pump price of diesel fuel from the previous month. We monitor retail diesel prices in Vancouver monthly, using verified data sourced from Kalibrate.
Baseline Price: Our benchmark trigger point is $1.05 per liter (including taxes) for Vancouver retail diesel.
The Increment: For every full nickel ($0.05) the price rises above the $1.05 benchmark, a 2% surcharge is applied.
To illustrate how this affects your invoice, here is a simple breakdown:
Average Diesel Price: $1.15 per liter
Difference from Baseline: $0.10 above the $1.05 trigger point.
Resulting Surcharge: Two increments of $0.05 = 4% Fuel Surcharge.
By adhering to the Vince Ready Agreement, we ensure that our surcharges are fair, standardized, and reflective of the actual economic conditions in British Columbia. This commitment to industry-standard pricing protects our clients from arbitrary price hikes and ensures the long-term reliability of our fleet.
